Last spring, Grey Germany put out some print PSAs for MTV in the form of multipanel cartoons reminding you that “sex is no accident,” so you should always be prepared and use a condom.

The cartoons humorously showed all kinds of unexpected, slapstick, accidental sex—like a guy roller-skating down the street, tripping on the curb, falling into the back of a woman bent over packing her car, and accidentally having sex with her.

Now, here are some companion videos, featuring accidental water ski, hang glider, and moped sex. Seems the best way to remain safe is to walk quietly down the street, rather than try any kinds of sports or operate a motor vehicle.

Behind this gaga-esque and burlesque pseudonym one finds the artist Sylwana Zybura who is based in Germany and UK working internationally on diverse art projects and for various independent magazines.

Sylwana is a very innovative fashion photographer and surrealist artist who have a master degree in Linguistics and has a strong interest on film direction.

To me, she is a mastermind in visionary photography and radical character design. It is an excerpt of her work, a glimpse of her aesthetics.

In her work she is focusing mainly on the interaction between body, language and new media. And obviously, her inspirations include surrealism, dadaism as well as the new wave era of the 80s, British post punk scene and the avantgarde theater of Robert Wilson.

I am sure that I am not the only one who is somehow also reminded on the surreal masterpiece movies of “The Cell” and “The Fall” or even Matthew Barney’s “Cremaster Cycle”. But I love Sylwana Zybura’s reinterpretation and further developement of them.

An outstanding artist I recently fell in love with is Fernando Gómez Balbontín. Fernando is painter from Santiago, Chile. His collection of work revolves around vehicle accidents and death. Portraying the reality of uncertainty and blind ignorance through the eyes of an observer.

“We seem lo live in an inevitable nonconformity. We do not accept the uncertainty that arises from our total ignorance about death. And while denying the only certainty that we probably have, we construct a hopeful discourse about a hypothetical future in which it is impossible to stop existing. (…)

The representation of an imaginary around death pretend store think life’s real sense, inducing the observer to anact of resistance towards the consumption of ideas imposed by a contaminated society. Denying death is denying life. Balbontín shows true progression as an artist and seems to find himself inventing new ways to keep his audience’s eyes glued to his paintings. His tactics work, because just like witnessing the aftermath of a massive car accident off the side of the road… it’s just too hard to look away.

Dulaney’s love for graphic design began in 1999, after being introduced to the field by her uncle while experimenting with illustration styles in high school. Her first big break came in 2008, updating a professional online folio of work for award-winning creative production company Stardust Studios.

Her projects included a commercial commissioned by Finnish agency Sek & Grey Oy for coffee brand Paulig Presidentti, and a billboard for Hugo Boss, on which she was the lead designer. After Stardust, Dulaney spent two years working full time at prolific animation, design and visual effects studio Psyop, where she was involved in huge campaigns.

After working on such complex, fulfilling projects with Psyop, she decided to go freelance. Armed with paper, some pencils, a Wacom tablet and Photoshop, Dulaney found that she could take on whatever brief suited her interests and eye for a fun challenge.

Dulaney has recently worked with Passion Pictures New York to make a short for the Red Bull Music Academy.

A graduate of the Fine Arts College of Shanghai University, Ma Liang studied graphic design, and it shows in his works, which blend new style with a look and feel of old photographic images, when colors were unrefined. He lives and works in Shanghai.

The Artistic Director, born in a family of artists, starts in 1995 by producing short films. In advertising film he made a name very quickly, but feels restricted in his role waiting for customers and in the constraints of the agencies.

In fact, the modern systems of work naturally led him to move a career as a photographer.

One can see a criticism of the consumer society: the development for him was prejudicial with the spirituality of the old Chinese culture: the loss of hope, the collapse of the values…

Thus, the new face of Shanghai makes him nostalgic as an artist who deeply likes his city in which he raised. Ma Liang compares his city with a drunk woman singing every night – Shanghai lost its heart.

Hellohikimori (HKI) was founded in 2004 by Nathalie Melato and David Ronhel. The name literally means “pulling away” or “being confined”, i.e. the acute social withdrawal that is on a rising trend in Japan, where reclusive people have chosen to withdraw from social life, often seeking extreme degrees of isolation and confinement because of various personal and social factors in their lives.

They work for clients like Orange Cinéma Séries, Perrier, Paco Rabanne, L’Oréal and Diesel. “Our work with Diesel is a global collaboration – we worked on different websites, including the ‘Only the Brave’ fragrance and the limited edition ‘Iron Man’ bottle design. We were also asked to develop the video concept for the launch event in Berlin.  (…)”

The word “hikimori” applies to both the sociological phenomenon in general and to the people belonging to this societal group.

Visitors to the Children’s Art Centre at Queensland Art Gallery in Australia are handed coloured stickers as they enter one part of Yayoi Kusama’s current show and invited to ‘obliterate’ a previously pristine white room…

The Obliteration Room revisits a project Kusama created for the gallery’s Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art in 2002, where she was one of three senior artists, along with Nam June Paik and Lee Ufan, to exhibit works.

The recreated all-white living room is just one part of Kusama’s exhibition Look Now, See Forever and, since opening in late November, the space has gradually filled with thousands of coloured dots. Kusuma has been producing interactive pieces since the 1960s, often using the human body in her performance pieces.

The BPA “Toe Jam” video is really an innovative and funny work. There are lots of naked young people, making things with their private parts. Well, the black bars that cover their bits.

“I was apprehensive about working with so many unclothed people. I don’t think I’ve even directed a scene with two people kissing. But the project was never meant to be sexual. I pitched it as: ‘It’s about as erotic as a naked guy streaking through a football game.”

“We had a pretty low turnout for casting, but I was happy with a high percentage of people. We were basically casting on charisma and looks. The censored black bars are a relic of the 70s, and I wanted to capture that all-natural vibe from the decade. So we requested for no tattoos, spray tan, or silicon implants – which may have contributed to our low turn out. But I was really happy with the cast that we ended up with. The shoot went really well. Everyone got desensitized to the nudity pretty quickly. All the actors seemed to be having a really fun time; I actually had to ask them to bring down the energy for the party scenes, but good vibes all around.”

“It helped that we had a rehearsal day – everyone was dressed in bikinis and swimsuits – so it was in many ways a warmup for the shoot day. I had diagrams for all of the shapes and letters; but it took a while to figure out how to exactly place everyone.”

Born in Brasilia and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Yomar initially trained as a graphic designer before going on to study photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

He then started his own studio in Rio before completing a Masters in Type Design from The Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, The Netherlands between 2004 and 2005.

Yomar has presented both commercial and conceptual projects with solo exhibitions in Asia, Europe and South America, while also designing for a host of brands including EMI, MTV & Warner music in Brazil; 180 Amsterdam, adidas (for the 2010 FIFA World Cup) and Icon Network in The Netherlands; Fur Fur and Graniph in Japan; and Random House in New York City.

He also teaches typography for advertising at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and has held experimental calligraphy and book art workshops in many countries, including Brazil, Russia, Turkey, China, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Germany and The Netherlands.

In 2011, Yomar has been invited to talk at TDC New York and has also been published at TDC Tokyo, Japan.

Pseudo sexual characters adorn behavioural oddments through a terrifying back – story of historical events as yet untold, titled ‘Imperial Leather’.

Derived from snippets of overheard conversation and appropriated images Locks works weaves new narratives of history and myth through a complicated and sometimes mysterious tale of heartache, lust and delusional thinking.

Introducing new characters, modes of transport, and trophies that may or may not exist within the story that as yet still remains hidden from the viewer, forcing the audience to re-invent their own dialogue within the works.

Works are repeatedly revisited by Lock over a prolonged period of time allowing for constant reinvention to an often bizarre and outlandish end.

The repeat of the geometric shapes, sounds, sculptures and wall – based works are significant to the story to date, revealing the souvenirs that Lock’s main character ‘Gimp’ has picked up from various encounters.

Lock intends to reveal the occasional short story from her ongoing book in 2011.

onedotzero_adventures in motion returns this year to London’s BFI Southbank from 23-27 November 2011, presenting the world’s most innovative audio-visual festival!

Staying true to its original remit that saw it championing the work of then-unknown visionaries like Spike Jonze, Chris Cunningham and Jonathan Glazer, as well as pioneering vj-ing and interactive installation work, the festival continues to serve up the very latest in innovative moving image and interactive arts.

His photos feature, along with a stream of experimental photography, two key themes.

Firstly his eerily atmospheric “night and smoke project”, a series of images for which Phung was largely inspired by music.

And in particular the “dark ambient and drowning sounds” of punishing post-metal experimentalist’s Sunn.

The images are dark, mysterious portraits with a claustrophobic sense of impending doom.
