When I see some new work of one duo from the UK, I usually fall in love with it again and again. Sawdust is the London based creative partnership of Jonathan Quainton and Rob Gonzalez. With four eyes for impeccable detail and quality of finish, a thing of true beauty in the printed form, this duo, as the same suggests, are ones to watch – highly flammable in a creative sense.
They specialize in bespoke and innovative typography, brand display typefaces, visual identities and image-creation for clients including Nike, Wired, The New York Times, It’s Nice That, Coca Cola, AKQA, Esquire, Creative Review, Audi, Fast Company, Bleep, IBM, Honda and ESPN.
At the heart of what they do is a desire to create work that is both explorative and beautifully crafted. Above all else they retain a deeply rooted conviction to not only deliver design that is effective but that exceeds their client’s expectations.
They have been published in numerous books and magazines and are frequent contributors to design publications worldwide. Sawdust have received awards of excellence for our typography and identity work and have been nominated for the Design Museum’s annual Designs of the Year 2015. Their work has also been exhibited at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Georgia.
